Abstract

Wim Gerritsen's interesting biography of Maartje Draak (1907-1995), the second Dutch professor in Celtic Studies, can be summarized as if it were a medieval Irish triad: it is important for the history of Celtic Studies in the Netherlands and elsewhere; for the history of the Humanities in general; and for the history of women in academia.
